Let’s concentrate on emergency call outs

I started this company when I got disillusioned with the way the shutter industry is perceived by a lot of people. Both clients of some shutter companies and other trades who deal with shutter some companies have been getting a raw deal.

Having worked with a few companies on my journey to where I am now I saw plenty of things I didn't like. So here we are , trying to change it all from the inside of the industry.

This year we are going to make the Greater Manchester emergency call out sector our main goal. Charging a fair price for a fair job. We all realise that there is not a great deal of money in the call out game unless you get a return visit to repair the shutter. If we manage to fix it during the call out then there is not much money in the job.

So the shutter doesn't work, it's 6am and you need to open up or it's 2am and you need to go home. You could go on Google and look at reviews and do your research. Most people just want the problem solved asap. They see some company with a sticker on their shutter and they just call them , no getting three quotes at this time of day/night you just want someone to come and help. There are plenty of companies out there that take advantage, like to do phantom return visits for unnecessary jobs or charge an insane amount for the initial call out. You only have to look through some reviews of certain companies to see how much of this goes on.

How do we change this. I feel it's best to explain to the client what they are going to get for their money and how much it will be before anyone gets dispatched to the job. I have been the engineer on a call out for a company and having to explain that the initial fee they had been given included no work at all when on site. The fee covered one man turning up and examining the problem for a three figure sum , this figure didn't include a one, then explaining that if they wanted any work done on the job they have to start paying an hourly charge. Obviously they are going to pay because you are on site and they already have money invested in getting you there. So is this great business sense or is this just taking advantage of a customer. I don't even see it as a grey area. If this was explained before hand then ok , the customer knew what he was getting into and he agreed. Springing it on someone at 2am when they just want to get a building secure so they can go home just feels like a scummy move to me. Our charges are very fair and very transparent, we have nothing to hide.

So let's get to some conclusion , people are struggling with the cost of living. Businesses are struggling to keep going. We all need to look out for each other and this can be us doing our part.

We will be doing our utmost to make the shutter call out sector a more favourably looked upon part of the shutter industry.
